Musicv2.com Drum and Bass DJ Competition

I just entered a dnb dj competition sponsered by the musicv2.com website and dj forums. This first mix I put up is an old school classic featuring tracks that got me into the current sound of dnb that I play today(technoid), there are a couple of slips in it but man this one is a banger, it should be good enough to win the first round, but if not oh well. Voting starts on December 28th and runs for 12 rounds, the winner of the turney gets 500 cash and other goodies. The website address is www.musicv2.com, also I have a few mixes on there that are doing ok and my link is www.musicv2.com/artist/nemesisfive also you can check out the same mixes on www.myspace.com/nemesisfive. Wish me luck because this is the first time that I entered any kind of dj comp and I hope I place well. You can vote for me in this battle at this link http://www.musicv2.com/battle.php?id=300 this takes you to the music v2.com battle arena where all the other dnb dj's have their mixes at as well. Peace, Love and Drum and Bass. ez

Music v2 the relaunch!!!!

Posted On: 2007-11-01 Posted In: Music News
As you can see the new site is finally here. What you see is the completion of over a full year of work and represents the largest step forward this site has ever taken. The entire site was recoded from the ground up with the purpose of creating the world's premier music based social networking site. The goal is to bring all aspects of the musical spectrum together in one place with the love of music being the glue holding everything together. Whether your a fan, musician, dj, band, emcee or even the owner of a record lable, the new Musicv2.com has been designed with you in mind. While there have been countless improvements and new features added to the site we have even more planned for the coming months. A short list of features that are still on the way can be found below.Full Featured MP3 Store:This just barely missed the launch and will be available very soon. Just as it says each music account holder will have a full featured mp3 store at their disposal.Musicv2 Classified System:Kind of like Craigslist for musicians, the classified system will allow members to buy, sell and trade their wares in a centralized and easy to use way.Musicv2 Store:Yeah, yeah it's an online store, but there are some really cool features that will be included in the official Musicv2.com store when it's launched.Of course you'll have your standard offerings such as shirts, stickers, hats and the such, but we will also be providing digital downloads directly from the site coming from some of your favorite digital venders, (trackitdown.net, others). This will allow the many dj's and music lovers who use the site everyday to browse and purchase their music from the Musicv2.com site itself! We will also be featuring Musicv2 artists in the store as well which will allow our members the ability to reach a much larger audience.Support Ticket System:This feature is basically just a way to provide better support to our members. I know that our support has been one of the most important aspects of the site and one of the things that has set us apart in the online world and this is just an extension of that focus. While not extremely exciting, this will be a very helpful feature that I'm sure many members will be happy to use when it's ready. Now you may be asking yourself why we're launching the site now even though there are some fairly important updates still in the works. The answer is that this re-launch represents a sort of beta phase with 95% of the new features being complete. We felt that after a full year of work it was better to get it out there now and let you all get your hands on it immediately rather than waiting another 6 months. That way by the time the site is 100% finished all of the bugs should be worked out and we'll be in a great position to grow.As the new year comes and we grow into our new shell I think we'll all see the site expload into something truly spectacular!

OffKey Podcast 001 - Raiden
Raiden's fusion of techno and drum and bass has been an inspiration to many producers for years and is one of the most exciting pioneers/representatives of the techno drum and bass movement. Raiden is now ready to unleash his long waited live set across the Globe for the first time.
Over the last year Raiden has been pushing his 3 decks lock groove sets so to futher this idea, Raiden has developed a live set which is somewhere in between Djing and a live P.A. Songs and loops are mashed together utilising Raiden's production talents in a live environment. Expect mind bending hypnotic loops, not limited by the generic tempo of dnb, and live remixing of old and brand new material from the whole genre of electronic music in a DnB format.

Respect Life

I'm putting this on here because this happened while I was working, and it seems that most people have little or no respect for those of us that work at these type of jobs. I mean most of us that work these jobs have degrees and have done other things in life that a lot of people have not done. Just because someone is working at a job that might seem little to them, dose not mean that person is less then human. I work at this 7/11 and day in and day out we have to deal with people who have no respect for life, no respect for people, and no respect for us. Before this incident happened maybe a month ago we had to send a middle age man to jail for trying to beat a little teen age girl in the store because he thought that she was standing to close (he sucker punched her). I have seen people on the average just do stuff in the store, where we as employees just thought like "wow what the hell is wrong with people," over and over again day after day. I remember when I was a little kid people had more respect then what they have now, people use to say things like "thank you" and "excuse me" In general it was a better time.
My next blog depending on how I feel about what happened about this issue will either be about the incident, because this is one of the few ways that I can express myself to get people to understand that we all need to change are ways or it's going to be about my true feelings about certain issues that I've never really talk about. My thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Ali Bashir may God give you another opportunity at life and may your soul, mind and spirit be healed if God grants you a second chance. To the people that seen the incident and thought that it was funny and was taking pictures I never really say this to anyone or about anyone your day will come because God sees and knows everything.

A 7-Eleven clerk was shot on the crowded 16th Street Mall today in broad daylight.
Denver police Lt. Ron Saunier said the clerk was in critical condition at Denver Health Medical Center. A suspect in the shooting was caught at 19th and Arapahoe streets. His name was not immediately available.
Saunier said he believed the man was on foot.
"The clerk was not behind the counter," Saunier said at the crime scene, which was filled with gapers. "He came out from behind the counter and confronted the suspect."
Saunier said it was too early to know whether robbery was the motive.

Sound System Culture by Slimrockah on MusicV2forums

The majority of members of music V2 seem to be involved in one way or another with a "tech" or dance related genre. The 1980's phenomenon known as the "reggae sound system" has paved he way for several genres, from hip-hop to modern dancehall, garage, and especially drum and bass. Using the cutting edge technology of the day, sound system operators/selectors and Mc's showed the world that playing records could be an art form. Their speaker rigs are the prototype for all nightclub sounds around the world. This clip is from a brilliant BBC documentary called "sound business" that was filmed in 1982 and features interviews and performances from the greats of the early British sound systems. The featured sounds include, Sir Coxsone sound, young lion, and the father of drum and bass, the Mighty Jah Shaka.. here's the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uoD_uBOIfEMIf you can watch the Doc in its entirety, I highly recommend doing so. This is the best documentary of it's kind, and the music is great as well.
